Why didn't my smart rule trigger immediately?

For users with Cuby G4, Cuby Modbus, or Cuby Aria Thermostat

Smart Rules are automations available in the Cuby app and web platform (cuby.io) for users with a Cuby G4, Cuby Modbus, Cuby BACnet, or a Cuby Aria smart thermostat (in any version). They let you define conditions (temperature, schedule, humidity, and more) so your air conditioner acts on its own, without you having to do it manually each time.

For example, you can set the AC to turn on automatically when the temperature exceeds a certain threshold. All from the app, at no extra cost.

Why doesn't the rule trigger immediately?

When you save a rule, the system doesn't execute it instantly. It first needs to verify the current state of the air conditioner and then evaluate whether the condition you configured is met. Only then does it send the instruction to the device.

That verification cycle can take a few minutes. If the condition was already met at the moment you saved the rule, the AC won't react right away, it will do so once the system completes that check.

This is intentional. Verifying the device's state before acting makes the automation more stable and prevents the AC from responding to momentary conditions that don't accurately reflect what's actually happening in the space.

What to check if the rule never triggered?

If several minutes have passed and the rule still hasn't executed, there are a few things worth checking before contacting support.

  • Make sure the rule is enabled in the app and that the conditions you configured are actually being met at that moment.
  • Make sure your Cuby G4 or Cuby Aria has an active WiFi connection.

An important note if you use Cuby G4

For smart rules to work correctly, Cuby needs to know the current state of the air conditioner. With the Cuby G4, this is only possible if the AC has been controlled through the app, since Cuby cannot read commands sent directly from the unit's original remote control.

If someone operated the AC with the physical remote, Cuby won't know whether it's on or off, what mode it's in, or what temperature it's set to. In that case, before a rule can execute correctly, you need to control the AC at least once from the app so the system has the updated state.
